Meet Our CEO

Dean Wattam

CEO

I am a Maths Teacher with over 15 years of classroom experience in a host of schools having been a supply teacher for 5 years, a full-time classroom teacher for 7 and a Deputy Head of Mathematics for 3 years. I have worked in schools in the Doncaster area, Manchester, and Essex. I have taught in state schools, private schools, academies, and faith-based schools

I have therefore experienced a wide range of teaching styles, and students with a large range of backgrounds.

Throughout all of my time teaching I have found one major consistency.

Whenever you speak with parents/guardians they usually have no feedback from students about how they have done in tests. The best that most parents hear is "It was alright" which is usually where the conversation ends.

I therefore developed these spreadsheets to try and penetrate that cloak of silence. Now I don't get emails from parents asking what their students are weak at, or if they are doing well in lessons. Instead the first thing I usually hear from parents is at parents evening when they thank me for the informative email and tell me that their child has been working on their areas of weakness.

Since beginning to use these spreadsheets, it has become department policy to use these after exams to feedback to parents/guardians. It has lead to a huge decrease in the number of parent emails and phonecalls across the department and therefore has more than made up the few minutes longer it takes to total up student scores on a spreadsheet rather than in your head.

I have therefore decided that others should benefit from this and am seeking to spread this around the nations schools.

I firmly believe this should be the standard approach for all schools after all tests
